What is Vinyl Flooring?

Vinyl flooring is one of the most popular flooring choices for Toronto house owners, offices, business and commercial places. The fame of this flooring is growing so in this article we are going to explain the substance and some features of vinyl flooring.

Vinyl flooring is made of synthetic material, specifically from fiberglass and PVC. Coming to conclusion that vinyl is %100 made of plastic. Often a hard layer of overall thickness for vinyl ranges from 1.5 mm for sheet vinyl to 5 mm for luxury vinyl planks, resulting the products thinner than laminate flooring.

First benefit of vinyl flooring of any kind of it is its superior resistance to water. All type of vinyl flooring from sheet vinyl, vinyl tile, and luxury vinyl, are waterproof. So, it can be installed in all the area with high moisture such as bathrooms, basement or kitchen.

Despite of nail down hardwood flooring, vinyl can be installed on top cement, granite, tile, laminate and other flat subfloors, actually different type of subfloor may not interfere with vinyl flooring installation, As long as we apply the proper underlay  specifies for vinyl flooring.

Maintenance and cleaning of vinyl flooring is easy. Just regular cleaning such as vacuum, wiping up with a soft cloth would be enough. However direct sunlight in long terms (many hours a day) may cause color fade in Vinyl plank flooring, so close your drapes on bright.

Despite all of its advantages, if you care about green option of flooring, vinyl flooring would not be good option to go with. After all vinyl is all plastic so unlike wood, vinyl is not a material to refinish it and use it for long life. Base on what researches are showing vinyl flooring is made of polyvinyl chloride and PVC is known to off-gas, releasing volatile organic compounds that effect close space air.
